Knowing the future vs. knowing yourself
Field notes on detangling the lens through which we see the world.
Last week, I got a reading with a psychic.
At one point in our 90-minute session, she asked me if I was triggered by injustice.
Not particularly, I responded.
Oh, so everything’s fair? She shot back.
I considered, and replied that everyone’s coming from a different perspective. And that makes it hard to draw a clear line.
Which is true.
But as I reflected further, I wondered if there was more to this.
When someone asks me if I care about justice, why is my initial response, “Meh”?
Do I not believe a just system is possible in our world?
Do I distrust authorities?
What it brought up is memories of early childhood. Being told “don’t talk back” when I was being disciplined.
I only wanted to explain my actions.
The authorities of my earliest memories were not able to hear me. That programmed me for skepticism that a society that upholds “justice” would actually be fair.
When I hear justice, I think punishment.
But in a truly just system, the authorities would listen consciously.
Maybe I do care about justice.
What I seek from psychics is not seeing the future (which you can change), but to see what is unconscious within myself.
Thanks for exploring the stars with me!
