On Monday, July 3, we have a full moon in Capricorn.
In a full moon, the sun and moon are exactly opposite each other. What’s significant about the Capricorn full moon is that this puts the sun in Cancer, the sign ruled by the moon, where the moon is most at home. It’s like the moon is up in an airplane and can see her house, but she’s not in it.
So let’s explore the sun in Cancer, first. Cancer is the sign of belonging, family, and feelings. The sun is ego and energy, so the sun in Cancer for me evokes the backyard barbecue — friends, family, at home, casually enjoying comfort food.
The sun is also conjunct Mercury, which is words and communication. Think of those moments, in a therapist’s office or when drinking a cold beverage in the hot sun, and you start to say some words that popped into your head but you know you can’t get them out without crying. That’s Mercury in Cancer.
Now, the moon: The moon is our inner world, our security, our happiness. Capricorn wants integrity, organization, and solitude.
So amidst this outdoor fun-fest party that’s raging, the moon is pulling for some grounded inner structure.
This full moon is not a time to let loose, or steal away to be by yourself, but it’s a challenge to integrate the two. The question is how you can find the inner integrity in who you are, and let that be the foundation for your belonging in the loud, hectic spaces you move through.
The moon gets support with a trine to Jupiter. Jupiter brings some luck and prosperity to the equation (as long as we shoot our shot!).
Make a commitment to yourself, to be yourself, and you’ll have the best chance of enjoying the high tide of emotions rolling through the cosmos right now.
This moon falls in my second house of money and values, and is square to my sun and midheaven (career, legacy). I’ll be harnessing the power by submitting my short fiction to literary magazines this weekend.
Check what house the moon in Capricorn falls in for you to see what area of life you have an invitation to commit to yourself. With full moons being a time to release and let go, this commitment to self can look like letting things fall away that aren’t in alignment with your integrity.
